Free Ways to Enjoy Half Term in South Wales This Spring

Explore a Local Country Park

South Wales has some beautiful green spaces perfect for picnics, walks, bike rides, or simply letting the kids run around. Spots like Bute ParkParc Bryn Bach, and Margam Country Park are great for a relaxed day outdoors.

Head to the Beach

A sunny day at the coast never gets old. Whether it’s building sandcastles, rock pooling, or grabbing an ice cream and a walk along the promenade, beaches like Barry Island BeachRest Bay, and Three Cliffs Bay are always worth a visit.

Discover a New Walk

From woodland trails to mountain views, there’s no shortage of scenic walks across South Wales. Even a short local walk can turn into an adventure during half term — especially with snacks packed and phones left in pockets for a while.

Make the Most of Local Parks

Sometimes the simple days out are the best ones. Pack a football, scooters, a picnic blanket, or even just some chalk and enjoy a few hours at your nearest park while the weather is good.

Support Local

Half term is also a great excuse to visit local cafés, ice cream spots, and small businesses while out exploring. A quick coffee stop or treat in the sunshine always makes the day feel a bit more special.

Whatever you get up to this half term, we hope you enjoy some sunshine, fresh air, and a chance to slow down a little
