Reset & Recharge: How to Mentally Prepare for September

It’s that time again. You’re somewhere between “Do I have to think about work yet?” and “Maybe I should order a new planner.”

Whether you've had six weeks of beach days or you've been working bits throughout the summer, September is coming — and with it, the classroom chaos, early alarms, and coffee-fuelled mornings.

Here are a few gentle ways to help you reset and recharge — and walk into the new term with a clear head and calm vibes.

1. Slowly reintroduce routine

Don’t shock your system. Try easing back into early mornings, getting into a better sleep schedule, or setting some quiet time each day — think reading, journaling or a walk. Your future self will thank you.

2. Find your calm

Whether it’s a 10-minute YouTube meditation, a podcast in the garden, or lighting a candle and ignoring the group chat — find your thing that gives your brain a rest. Rest is productive.

 3. Set a small September goal

Not “transform the whole education system” — more like “Be out the door by 7:30,” or “Try one new resource a week.” Small, doable wins feel great and give structure to your start.

4. Sort your essentials now, not in a panic later

Bag. Lanyard. Planner. Pen that works. You know the drill. Do a quick check of what you need now, and September-you will love you for it.

5. Reach out and reconnect

If you’re already registered with ESP, pop us a message and let us know your September plans. We’re here to make sure your first day back goes as smoothly as possible — with roles that work for you.

Not registered yet? No stress — there's still time to join us, call us now on 01633 546100

Reminder: There’s no gold medal for “busiest teacher ever.” You can only give your best when you’re feeling your best. So take these last few weeks to breathe, recharge, and get ready for September.
