What have you been up to during lockdown?
As practice makes perfect and being one to not turn down a free offer, I’ve made the most of my time thanks to Fender offering a three-month guided online learning program called Fender Play. With hundreds of instructional videos and hands-on exercises it has taken my bass guitar playing to the next level. Starting from the basics of how to hold the instrument, it has taken me step by step through the process of building confidence and dexterity to playing my favourite Green Day songs.
Have you enjoyed anything about lockdown?
In a fast-paced world, I’ve enjoyed the moments of calm lockdown has brought, to be able to pick up a book and enjoy the time reading it, to be able to live each day mindfully as not knowing what the future holds has allowed for focus on the present. Living so close to the Newport Canal has taken me a step closer to nature, to appreciate all the wildlife that sometimes can be taken for granted, what I’ve enjoyed most is seeing the life-cycle of ducks and swans, hatching from eggs to growing into ducklings and watching the transformation of a cygnet from fluffy grey to white.
What have you missed?
Above all else I have missed my family and friends, the interaction between us and the sharing of memories. The simple things like going for a coffee or jumping on a train to go something. All the little things, I will never again take for granted.
What are you most looking forward to as lockdown is continues to ease?
My beloved live music, as someone who lives from one concert to the next, I am most looking forward to seeing my favourite bands play live once again. As crazy as it sounds my happy place is in a field, with my wellies on even in the rain.
