My family and I have been very fortunate to just return from a very hot holiday in the sun in Sarigerme, Turkey. One of the things we were most looking forward to this year was my sister’s wedding in Vegas, we were due to go out to LA first on 23rd July for five nights, then on to San Francisco for three and then arriving in Las Vegas on 31st July ready for my sister and future brother-in-law’s big day on 2nd August. A trip that had been two years in the making, unfortunately as with a lot of weddings this year, was cancelled. Therefore, as soon as the measures were eased to travel abroad we booked a last minute holiday to one of our favourite destinations, Turkey.
It was exactly what the doctor ordered, after all the homeschooling and monotonous daily routines, and more so for my husband who have had to work right the way through the lockdown, he more than any of us deserved a break from it all. So we were off!
I think the best part of lockdown for me was spending more time with my children who are now 14 & 11. We’ve had some great laughs under the circumstances and have made some cracking memories, just in the house with silly games and plenty of TikTok’s! Come on you can’t deny you haven’t done one during lockdown! ???? Although, it hasn’t all been fun & games, I can honestly say homeschooling has been a bit of a challenge with my teenage son, getting up in the mornings being the biggest problem, but overall we’ve managed! I was amongst the majority skipping with joy when they announced schools to reopen, not for just the obvious reasons of being able to return to work, but for my children to get some normality back as well.
I am most looking forward to normality and routines again and praying, as I’m sure we all are, that there won’t be a second wave!
I want to take this opportunity to say that I’m sending love and hugs to all our staff who may have unfortunately experienced turmoil through COVID 19. Hopefully, the future brings more positivity for us all.
