Education Supply Pool are recruiting teaching assistants on behalf of a school near the Newbridge and Risca area. This role will involve working with foundation phase pupils. The successful candidate will be expected to cover general teaching assistant duties as well as 1 to 1 support for pupils. In addition, experience or training within speech and language would be preferred as the candidate will be expected to facilitate small group intervention sessions. The school is in a welcoming and caring community, which values high standards for their pupils’ learning and a supportive environment for their staff.

This is a maternity cover position and is due to commence after half term in November. 

We are searching for teaching assistants who will take initiative and who have a proactive approach to daily tasks assigned by the class teacher. This role demands enthusiasm and a full commitment to creating a culture of success and a positive climate for learning whilst developing their social and emotional resilience.  

Successful candidates must:

• Hold a teaching assistant qualification 
  • Minimum of NVQ Level 2, CACHE Level 2, BTEC, BA (Hons) Education or equivalent or have experience working within a role with children/youth  
• Assist with prepared lessons in all areas of the school curriculum with consideration for varying levels of student ability,
• Be attentive to the unique needs of each student and be able to identify proper solutions when children encounter issues,
• Maintain a supportive, safe, and clean classroom environment,
• Maintain a level of respect, control, and discipline within the classroom,
• Take part in/assist with the organisation of school events and activities beyond teaching hours,
• Liaise with colleagues to ensure positive outcomes for pupils,
• Collaborate with other teachers, work with children, and communicate with families when needed.
